Here, we have Damavand ski touring program. The program includes skiing on Damavand (5671 meters) in Alborz Mountains. Damavand is the highest mountain of Iran with a cultural significance. It is part of Iranian mythology. In Shahname, we read that Arash, the Iranian hero, determines the border of Iran with an arrow thrown from this mountain. There are 16 routes to summit Damavand. Day 1: Arrival to Tehran (1189m)
Now, the Damavand ski touring program officially begins. Based on the time of the participants’ arrival, transfer is arranged. When arriving, Atour guide is waiting to accompany the participants to their next destination. Tehran is around 1189m above sea level with dry weather. On arrival, we will head to Polour that is around 2 hours northeast of Tehran. The overnight will be at Polour mountaineering lodge or a local house in the area.Day 2: Ski touring to Bargah Sevom (4200m)
Now, we start the adventure to summit the highest volcano in Asia. First, there is a drive to Goosfandsara (3200m). The roads are usually snow filled; however, we go as far as we can. Then, we have to ski tour to Barga Sevom Shelter (4200m) which will take around 4-5 hours. The overnight will be at the Bargah Sevom shelter and the guide will prepare the meal.Day 3: Acclimatization (4600m)
Early in the morning, we head to upper area to acclimatize. We will be ski to the estimated altitude of 4600 and then return to the camp. The overnight will be in Bargah Sevom shelter and guide will prepare the meals.Day 4: Summiting Mount Damavand (5610m)
Early in the morning, we will head to the summit. After summiting Damavand, we ski down to Bargah Sevom Shelter and enjoy the rest of the day and night at the shelter. The guide will prepare the meals.Day 5: Reserve Day
As it is the ski season, the weather might be quite unstable. So the participants must be prepared for any change of the weather. The reserve day is here for that purpose and can replace the summit day.Day 6: Back to Tehran
Eventually, the participants ski down to trailhead where the transfer is ready to take them to local house. After arriving to the local house, participants have some time to pack up the bags and drive back to Tehran and hotel.Day 7: Tehran city tour (1189m)
It is time to get to know Iran’s history, art, and architecture better. It is also a chance to see the everyday life of Iranian. In this day, we will visit four historic sites.Day 8: Time to say goodbye
Departure, we will arrange a transfer to take you to the airport.
